Vancouver Bail Bonds

No matter which country you reside in, if fingers are pointed at you after the occurrence of any crime, you are bound to get jailed. Obviously you should expect to remain under the custody of the court unless you are proved to be innocent.

However, the law allows a temporary release of the suspect if his loved ones take the responsibility of bailing him out. The suspect can remain out of jail after the bail is set for him. In Vancouver, bail is set by the judge during the defendant’s first appearance. Bail is not applicable for some petty instances such as traffic violations, etc.

When a friend or a relative of the suspect seeks to purchase a bail bond, they are requested to provide some of the basic yet mandatory information about the suspect and the nature of crime that has been committed. This information is needed by all the bail bond companies of Vancouver to estimate the stakes involved in setting up the bail bond. While it is true that bail can be granted after an arrest has taken place, it will still depend on the jurisdiction and the nature of the crime.

When anyone signs a bail bond contract, they make an implied promise to the court that the appearance of suspects in the courtroom on the date of hearing is assured. If the suspect fails to appear in the proceedings, this will cause the signers of the bond to pay the court the designated amount. The laws of Vancouver in general, suggest that the amount of bail is calculated depending on the seriousness of the alleged offense or crime.

When the defendant finally gets a temporary release from the court’s custody, he or she is expected to stay under the limitations of law, until the court takes up its final decision. These restrictions include staying within the city limits. If travelling becomes inevitable, as in certain cases, then the suspect may have to ask for the court’s consent in order to leave Vancouver. Obviously, during the interim period, the defendant will need to attend all court proceedings that are to be held on the scheduled dates.

Basically bail bonds are used as a guarantee for paying the whole amount of bail. Once the guarantee is paid, the suspect can be released from jail until the day of trial. However, it should be noted that if the defendant fails to abide by the laws of the court, or didn’t appear at court on the dates of trial then he will have to bear with the consequences.

The suspect will have to return to jail once he is caught by the police. This will be one of the repercussions of not fulfilling the conditions mentioned on the bail bond agreement. Even the person who signed the bail bond will have to endure the actions taken by law against him or her. For them, the violation of contract can lead to the loss of bail money. The amount of bail can differ from a small sum to a very large amount that would taunt many people.
